When David Klauber of Julian began writing a book about his great-great grandfather Abraham Klauber, he had no idea just how much research he was getting himself — and his family — into. “Five years into it I realized I had to stop,” he says. “There is so much California history I was exposed to in the midst of doing the research for this book that there will be other books I have to write.” Meanwhile, his hard work on his book, “The Sounding,” has been recognized. The San Diego Book Award Association recently honored Klauber with a first place award in the history category.
The SDBAA is a volunteer organization that honors the best published books and unpublished manuscripts by San Diego County residents each year. “The award means a lot and I am really glad to receive it,” he says.
His book has also been awarded an honorable mention at the Hollywood Book Festival, and was displayed at the San Diego Public Library 44th Annual Local Authors Exhibit, held in February.
“The Sounding” is available on Amazon.com and all other major book-seller sites. A second edition in paperback is nearly ready for release. For information about the book, call David Klauber at 760-420-5437 or visit www.coulterridgepress.com.
